The Cartagena Summit’s opening ceremony will feature two dance companies that have been invited by Colombia to delight the audience with three pieces of inclusive dance. Both companies promote the participation of persons with disabilities in dance, and provide opportunities for inclusion for Colombians with physical, sensory or cognitive disabilities. Dancing allows people to understand their bodies and generate social inclusion dynamics. Furthermore, dancing allows awareness and increasing reflection on discourses related to body, ability and disability. At 19:30, Colombia will offer dinner and drinks at Plaza de la Aduana.

Participants will join landmine survivors in enjoying the unique experience of diving at Islas del Rosario. This innovative activity for the psychosocial rehabilitation of landmine survivors and other persons with disabilities puts them in a completely new environment, provides them tools for their life, and also the likelihood of changing their paradigm regarding their disability, in communion with the biodiversity and the marine beauty of Colombia.

The race will take place on November 29th in the city of Cartagena de Indias from 7 am to 12 noon. Delegates from all countries, people in situation of disability and the Cartagena community will be able to participate. They will gather on Plaza de la Aduana at 6:30 a.m. to begin a 5 Kilometer rout throughout the old city. 5000 participants will take part in this recreational race which will launch the series of activities programmed for the week of the Second Review Conference of the Mine Ban Convention.
Technical Recommendations
- All accredited delegates will automatically be registered in the race
- The race kit, which is comprised of a t-shirt, cap and number, will be delivered to your respective hotels during the day of Saturday November 28th.
- All participants will obtain a recognition medal when they arrive to the finish line.
- Do not race without having had breakfast.
- Locate the hydration points in the Plaza de la Aduana and throughout the route
- Follow the recommendations of the logistics and security staff
- The use of cap and/or sun block is recommended
- Enjoy the benefits of physical activity

Field Trip to Portonaito | Sunday, November 29

In Portonaito, participants will have an unforgettable experience sampling the rehabilitation and leadership process being performed with children and young people with disabilities. They will have the opportunity to sail, kayak, rappel,
watch the sea or simply have a powerful conversation with survivors. This activity has a purpose: sharing new and more efficient ways to live daily life thereby contributing to the achievement of psychosocial rehabilitation.

Delegates are invited to talk with Colombian survivors and learn about the cultural history and the evolution of the internal conflict in Montes de Maria. They will visit of the Hospital Nuestra Senora del Carmen and discuss the role of institutions in the rehabilitation of landmine survivors. Mine risk education initiatives will also be presented.
