The Cartagena Action Plan

The Cartagena Action Plan has been adopted by the international community, finalizing five days of work of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention. “This plan spells out in concrete terms what we will do to better meet the needs of landmine survivors,” said the Cartagena Summit President, Susan Eckey of Norway. “It is a strong plan that will require a shared commitment to be implemented. Doing so will get us closer to our aim of a world without anti-personnel mines.”
World Leaders Call for Full Support of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention and for More Nations to Join the Efforts Towards a Mine-Free World

Colombia, Norway, Switzerland and civil society representatives called today upon world leaders to fully support the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention and to rally behind the goal of a mine-free world. The call for action was made during a meeting at the United Nations in New York. The meeting is one of the events leading up to The Cartagena Summit on a Mine-Free World the name given to the Second Review Conference of the Convention.

From the Palace of Nations in Geneva (Switzerland), the Vice-President of Colombia, Francisco Santos Calderón, reiterated the need to guarantee the attendance of all countries to the high level segment of the ‘Cartagena Summit on a Mine-free World’, to be held in Cartagena de Indias from November 29th to December 4th.
